The Royal Agricultural Society of WA (RASWA) is a not-for-profit organisation that has
supported the State’s agricultural sector for almost two centuries. Through its management of
the iconic Perth Royal Show and Claremont Showground, the Royal Agricultural Society
engages in a wide range of community and industry initiatives.

How does Volunteering at the Perth Royal Show work?

• Shifts are 3 hours in length (morning, early afternoon and later in the afternoon) and
are available for the eight days of Show, Saturday 21
st September to Saturday 28th
September.

• Volunteers will be provided induction in the lead up to the Show, with full support during
shift/s.

• Free refreshments

• Free entry on the day of volunteering

• Complimentary Show entry ticket for each day you volunteer, to use on another day or
give to family and friends!

Please note that all volunteers will require a valid Working with Children Card. The GIVE volunteer team can help you to apply for this card and will reimburse the cost of the application.

Please note that this sign up is an initial expression of interest. The GIVE volunteer team will then help you through signing up for available shifts. 

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is diagnosed in people of all ages, men and women. Currently there is no cure, however symptoms can be managed to help the person achieve the best possible quality of life. The Motor Neurone Disease Association of WA is the specialist organisation in Western Australia for people living with MND, their carers and families.

Funds raised through events like Let’s Get Quizzical For MND are crucial in enabling MNDAWA to continue their work in the community and events like these need lots of hands. The GIVE volunteering team will be help out with event set up (3-4.30pm), general event support (5.30pm-10.30pm) and event pack down (10-11pm). Come along and help us help out. 

Volunteer Hours: Depending on the shift chosen 1.5hrs, 5hrs or 1hr can be logged towards transcript recognition. Students are able to volunteer for more then one shift in which case a break will be provided. Please note that transportation time cannot be logged.

Over the last 19 years, Tangaroa Blue’s WA Beach Clean-up has helped remove 45 tonnes of marine debris from our precious coastline; that’s more than the average weight of  weight of an adult humpback whale! The GIVE team will be pitching in to help take care of beautiful Port Beach, cleaning up and removing rubbish and debris. Snacks and Drinks provided.

When: Friday 11th October, 5pm – 7pm 

Where:  Port Beach, North Fremantle.

Join us for a delightful spring afternoon, bask in the sun, and connect with nature at the stunning Alfred Cove. This is a unique opportunity to explore local wildlife while meeting fellow young bird enthusiasts, engaging in fun activities, and learning from a seasoned educator!

Event Highlights:

• Guided Bird Walk: Led by Katie Bird from Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, learn fascinating facts about the local birdlife as you stroll through the area. (~4-6 pm)
• Bird Bingo: Play along during the walk for a chance to win some adorable avian-themed prizes!
• Kayaking Experience: Cancelled 11/10/24
• Free Light Meal & Drinks: Enjoy complimentary snacks and refreshments at the start of the event. Food and drinks will be available from 3 pm.

Who Can Join:

• Free for youth aged 12-25 who live, work, visit, or play in the City of Melville
• Free for all MUWA members and Kanyana Wildlife or WA Wildlife Volunteers

Join us in room 360.2.023 at Boola Katitjin on Tuesday 15 October, 14:30 for The Matrix! Please note that we are starting half an hour early compared to our usual time in order to fit the booking in. This classic directed by the Wachowskis is perhaps the best known piece of antirealist fiction. The Wachowski’s use of Chinese martial arts freely mixed with Greek and Christian religious references paints a blueprint for the multiculturalism of successful antirealism. Also, it’s a trans allegory, the red pill is estrogen, and Agent Smith deadnames Neo. Hope to see you there!

Murdoch’s Sustainability department will be running a stall to encourage people to ride to work. They will have a Blender Bike where people will be able to hop on and blend their own smoothie. They need  volunteers to help with the smoothie making, setting up and pack up.

Roleybushcare is an environmental group that is focused on maintaining and protecting the Jarrah bushland around the Roleystone and Karragullen areas. GIVE volunteers will be helping stem injecting trees susceptible to jarrah dieback in Sylvania Park.

New to dieback treatment? Then come along and learn. All training and support will be provided.

We’re wrapping up 2024 with another painting session following the success of our last Paint and Sip event! 🎨 Start fresh with a new canvas or bring your unfinished masterpiece to complete. Plus, enjoy free dinner and drinks while you paint! 🍽️🍹

Later that evening, we’ll be hosting our Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 7:00 PM. If you’re interested in joining MUWA’s committee for 2025 and helping us plan exciting wildlife-themed events for students, we’d love for you to attend either in person or online.

Children going through treatment from cancer have serious limitations on the type of learn and play they can do. GIVE volunteers will be helping cut out fabric and felt shapes and animals to become part of cloth activity books which will then be donated to help keep these children engaged and learning whilst going through their treatment. 

Volunteer Requirements: A willingness to help out. As these books will be going to children who have compromised immune systems it is important that if you are feeling unwell in anyway that you do not attend the event.

Thanks to our continued partnership with WA Wildlife, we invite our MUWA members and wildlife enthusiasts to join us on a special night tour hosted by WA Wildlife educators. This tour is exclusively available to MUWA members. It will last approximately two hours, featuring bushwalking and a tour of the hospital, where you’ll also meet some of WA Wildlife’s nocturnal residents.

We’d love to see many of you at our final event as we wrap up the university year for 2024! We can also go out for dinner and drinks afterward. Hope to see you there! xo
