Program overview:
Interested in educational equity, volunteering, and meeting like-minded people? Ignite Mentoring is recruiting! Students will take part in a nine-week program as mentors, travelling to low socio-economic high schools around Perth to teach soft skills.
Interested in educational equity, volunteering, and meeting like-minded people? Ignite Mentoring is recruiting! Students will take part in a nine-week program as mentors, travelling to low socio-economic high schools around Perth to teach soft skills.
They will run games, facilitate discussions, and help students develop communication, teamwork, and other essential skills.
Program details:

Approx. 3 hours per week (including 1 hour in-class time)

No prior experience required

Non-academic mentoring opportunity

Open to students from all universities and TAFEs

Different roles within our program are given a certain number of hours. The only thing is that you will need to communicate to Murdoch students that they will have to commit to a full year with Ignite Mentoring to get the 40 hours, because mentoring is less than 40 per semester, and they cannot stop midway through the second semester once they do get to 40 hours.
4. The Homework Hut
How the program works:

Students complete their details via the registration form

Information is then sent to the Volunteer Coordinator at the Multicultural Services Centre

They will support students through Working with Children (WWC) Check and National Police Check applications
-
If students do not already have these checks or cannot cover costs, the organisation will assist with National Police Check fees
-
Once checks are complete, students begin volunteering with the Multicultural Services Centre

Students are required to complete 40 hours within one year (hours are logged per calendar year)

All hours must be recorded in the Student Volunteer Log

Once 40 hours are completed, students submit proof to the Projects Team at Murdoch Guild for transcript recognition
