Magazine Editor-In-Chief

$2000 – Fixed rate per magazine

Are you a self-starter? Passionate about writing and creating quality student journalism?

If so, this is the position for you! We’re looking for a proactive individual to help us launch our next edition of METIOR Magazine. METIOR is Murdoch Guild’s in-house student-run publication for Murdoch University students, Guild staff and Council.

This person will oversee developing a network of student volunteers/ contributors for the magazine and working closely with the Guild Council towards the production of the magazine.

They will also be expected to contribute feature articles and editorials, as well as source stories for the magazine. The editor in chief will receive support from the Guild staff members in sourcing volunteers, designing the magazine, marketing and publishing the magazine online.


  • To coordinate digital production and distribution of 2-3 quality and timely editions of METIOR (2 editions per semester).
  • Source volunteer student contributors (i.e. writers, graphic designers, photographers) to produce the METIOR magazine.
  • Write feature articles, editorials, and source stories for the magazine.
  • To produce METIOR under the direction of the Guild Council.
  • To implement METIOR policy as determined by and in liaison with the Guild Council.
  • Release each edition of METIOR within the deadlines. SELECTION CRITERIA
  • Must be a current Murdoch University student and member of the Murdoch Guild of Students
  • Have sound experience with computers.
  • Have sound experience in desktop publishing, preferably Indesign.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Is a self-starter and a motivated individual.
  • Enthusiastic and a people-person.
  • Have some experience in research, journalism, writing or communications.
  • Have fantastic time-management skills.
  • Express commitment to student rights and student associations.


  • Some photography experience
  • Some prior knowledge to METIOR and/or other student publications

Calling All Student Artists!

Murdoch Guild is looking to build a gallery of painted artworks. If you are a student at Murdoch University with artistic talent, we would like to get to know you!

We’re looking to commission students to create a series of custom canvas painted art. We will collaborate with the artist on a theme/ topic, however will endeavour to give the artist as much creative control as possible.

Please introduce yourself and send through some examples of your previous artworks to to be considered.

Guild Tavern Cook

The Murdoch Guild Tavern is run by the Murdoch Guild of Students and is seeking Cook to assist the Tavern Management and are committed to providing quality service to students and the university community. This role will be responsible for overseeing the cooling, assembly and packaging of Kababs in the kitchen together with fresh fried chips, working predominantly Monday – Friday, 10:30-3pm, a casual position and mainly but not limited to University during teaching weeks

This is a unique position that would suit someone who is a student, (job share available) or has family commitments and only wishes to work during University semesters with Christmas, January, evenings and weekends free.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Prepare, cook and package Kebabs (chicken or lamb or falafel)
  • Fry, season and package chips
  • Ensure that all food is cooked and presented to the highest standard with minimum wastage.
  • Label and date of all food items with date opened/arrived and expiry
  • Commitment to a high level of customer service.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained
  • Deliveries are checked.
  • Minimize wastage and stock loss.
  • Ensure preparation areas are clean and OH & S standards are followed.
  • Comply with relevant food and beverage hygiene standards.
  • Essential: Food service experience.
  • Desirable: Responsible Service of Alcohol

Salary is commensurate with experience.
