Murdoch University Postgraduate Student Association (MUPSA)

Murdoch University Postgraduate Student Association (MUPSA) is led by postgrads, for postgrads, so we understand your needs, rights and professional and academic goals. MUPSA is a representative body for all postgrads within The Murdoch University Guild of Students. We’re here to help postgrads with all aspects of study and candidature, including the opportunities and challenges of research or coursework, or simply with connecting you with other postgrads through our social events. We provide bursaries, hold academic, professional and social events such as employability workshops and other events with focus on research. In addition to all this, we advocate on behalf of our members.

MUPSA is only as strong as its members are active. Yes, that means, YOU!

Are you an External Postgrad Student at Murdoch University?

If yes, then you are an important member of our student community, and MUPSA Committee welcomes you to get in touch with us. MUPSA has a private facebook group only for external postgrads to share personal and study-related queries or just chat. If you live in the Great Southern Area of WA, there is also a Great Southern Postgraduate Group.

A change of direction…

This year, MUPSA Committee is unable to offer the PhD Completion Scholarship and Small Research Support Grants. Instead, MUPSA Committee will meet the postgrads’ needs through a stronger focus on doing more advocacy and student engagement by providing activities including social events and employability workshops.

In this way not only a few students benefit.

MUPSA PhD Completion Scholarship

In 2014, MUPSA, in conjunction with Graduate Research, offered a Completion Scholarship for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidate who had come to the end of their scholarship funding, but needed a little assistance in order to reach the stage of thesis submission.

The maximum value of the award was $5,000, and was paid in three installments. The first installment was $2,000 upon approval of the award, the subsequent two installments were: up to $1,500 on completion of the milestone and the third would be paid on submission of the thesis for examination.

MUPSA Small Research Support Grant

In 2014, MUPSA offered Small Research Support Grants for graduate research students who had exhausted most of their maintenance funds, but needed a little assistance to further their research.

The maximum value of the award was $500, with 4 grants available per custom writing service research semester. The Grant could be used to cover fieldwork expenses, conference attendance, books, research incidentals, and other relevant research events (e.g. workshops or symposia).

Eligible students were those enrolled in a PhD, MPhil, LLM (Res), RMT & MEd (Res), EdD, DIT, DPsych or DVetMedSc program. Masters by Coursework students were eligible to apply only if they were completing a 12 credit point thesis.

We always welcome volunteers for our events!

Duties for event volunteers include: set up and pack down, food service, guiding guests, coordinating activities, photography and pre-event planning (such as preparing and distributing promotional materials).
